(23 February, 2006 - HONG KONG) The Community Chest of Hong Kong and East Asia Entertainment Limited will jointly organise "Mark Lui & Friends Charity Concert" on 30 March 2006. The event is solely sponsored by Sa Sa International Holdings Limited. More than HK$2 million will be raised through the concert for the Chest. A press conference was held by the joint Organisers today (23 February 2006) to announce the event details.
Attending this press conference were: Dr Dennis T L Sun, BBS, JP, Campaign Committee Chairman of The Community Chest; Mr Leon Lai, MH, Board Member of the Chest; Mr Mark Lui, the celebrated composer; "Sa Sa presents : Mark Lui & Friends Charity Concert" Organising Committee Chairman Mr Simon Kwok; Co-Chairmen including Mr Hui Ho-ming, Herbert, JP; Mr Benny Kwong; Mr Ng Sau-kei, Wilfred, MH; Mrs Lucy Yang, BH; Mr Yip Chun-nam, Stephen, MH and Mrs Janny Yue. Also presiding at this event were celebrity singers Ms Kelly Chan, Mr Leo Koo, and Mr Edmond Leung.
"The Chest highly appreciates Mr Leon Lai and Mr Mark Lui for initiating this significant event. With the theme "Hong Kongers Help Hong Kongers", this concert does not only present the audience a series of popular songs composed by the talented Mr Mark Lui, the dazzling performances of many celebrity singers, but also an invaluable opportunity to help the needy in Hong Kong," said Mr Simon Kwok, Event Organising Committee Chairman at the press conference.
Under the event theme "Hong Kongers help Hong Kongers, The Community Chest helps Hong Kongers, Mark Lui is a Hong Konger", Mr Mark Lui, Convenor of this charity event and Mr Leon Lai, MH, also appealed to members of the music industry to join hands in investing in community development.
The "Mark Lui & Friends Charity Concert" features the spectacular performances of celebrity singers, including Mr Leon Lai, Ms Kelly Chan, Ms Denise Ho, Mr Andy Hui, Mr Leo Koo, Mr Hacken Lee, Mr Edmond Leung, Ms Candy Lo; Mr Alan Tam and Ms Miriam Yeung, presenting popular songs composed by Mr Mark Lui. Tickets of this concert are not open for public sale. Interested parties can either donate to the Chest or make purchases through the event sponsor, Sa Sa's cosmetics shops.
Thanks to a generous annual grant from The Hong Kong Jockey Club to support the administrative expenses of The Community Chest, all donations can be allocated to 142 social welfare agencies, without any deduction, to help the many needy and disadvantaged in Hong Kong.
